Onnistumistodennäköisyys < 0,05

Pasi puhuu asiaa.
Kahden asteen täpärä alittaminen markkinoidaan itsestäänselvyytenä. Olisi hyvä jos näiden ilmatieteenlaitosten auktoriteettien arviot heitettäisiin kaikkien silmille, niin ettei sitä voisi ohittaa.

Hienoa, että toivoa on! Jokainen voi tehdä jotain! Kun vain saisi päättäjät rahoittamaan tutkimusta keinoista, millä energiaa voitaisiin säästää ja päästöt saada miinukselle, sekä jo aiheutetut vahingot/saasteet eliminoida. Kierrätyksellä voitaisiin korvata metsien hakkuut. Rakentamisessa voitaisiin palkita kierrätystä ja vanhan korjausta sekä suosia aurinko, tuuli ja maalämmön hyväksikäyttöä. Uusia ideoita tarvitaan.. Tehoviljelystä joka kuluttaa valtavasti energiaa, voitaisiin siirtyä vähän energiaa vaativiin viljelymenetelmiin, jossa hyödynnettäisiin luonnon omia menetelmiä. Sadon määrien mahdollisen putoamisen voi korvata pienviljelyllä ja maaseudun uudelleen asuttamisella.
Meidän on parasta totutella ajatukseen, että maailma muuttuu perusteellisesti ja hyvinvointi näyttää erilaiselta tulevaisuudessa.

Selvää on, että "siirtyminen joukkoliikenteeseen" ei pudota hiilidioksidipäästöjä negatiivisiksi, mikä näyttää nyt olevan uusi tavoite. Pyöräily sen sijaan on suositeltavaa myös Toiviaiselle junan sijasta.

Hiilidioksidi voi lämmittää merkitesvärsti vain, jos ilmakehän vesihöyrypitoisuus nousee hiilidioksidin initiaalilämmityksen seurauksena. Ilmakehän tulee lämmetä huomattavasti nopeammin (fingerprint), kuin maapallon pinta. Mutta sekä satelliitit että (satelliiteista riippumattomat) mittaukset osoittavat, että fingerprinttiä ei löydy. Näyttää siltä, että vesihöyrymallinnus on toistaiseksi virheellinen ja hiildioksidin lämmittävä vaikutus on huomattavasti uskottua pienempi.

Pasi hyvä, kerrohan mitkä ovat ne selkeät todisteet hiilidioksidin aiheuttamasta lämpötilan noususta. Puhe CO2:n (ekvivalentit mukaan luettuina) katastrofaalisesta merkityksestä maapallon ilmaston lämpötilaan on puhtaasti poliittinen, ei tieteellinen.

Olisi todella syytä lopettaa lukjoiden harhaanjohtaminen katastrofipelottelulla.

Hip hei. Nyt ovat ilmastoänkyrät lopulta löytäneet blogini. Neljä edellistä kommentoijaa eli Virtanen, Ahlbeck, Winterhalter ja Hämeranta kuuluvat kaikki tähän porukkaan. Voin kuvitella kuinka skeptikkoleirissä on päätetty, että nyt käydään miehissä Toiviaisen blogin kimppuun. Joukkovoimalla saadaan näyttämään siltä, että toimittajaparalla on jopa ylivoima vastassa. Ilmastonmuutos ei ole totta!

Kuten olen aiemmin todennut, en aio jäädä tämän porukan kanssa joutavia turisemaan. Jos joku muu jaksaa heille vielä ilmastotiedettä avata, niin siitä vaan. Eivät he siitä kyllä onkeensa ota. Kuinkahan monta kertaa näihinkin heidän esittämiinsä kysymyksiin on jo tyhjentävästi vastattu.

Nykyisen ilmastotieteen luotettavuudesta totean tässä vain seuraavaa: Kun Yhdysvaltain tiedeakatemia vuonna 1978 julkaisi ensimmäisen yhteenvetonsa jo tuohon mennessä tehdyistä ilmastomallinnuksista, loppupäätelmä oli: jos ilmakehän hiilidioksidipitoisuus kaksinkertaistuu, maapallo lämpenee noin 3 astetta. Kun IPCC julkaisi viimeisimmän arviointiraportin keväällä 2007, tulos oli tismalleen sama.

Mitä tästä opimme? Sen, että vaikka ilmastotiedettä on koeteltu ja koeteltu kuluneet 30 vuotta, ja vaikka tulokset ovat vuosien varrella eri raporteissa hieman eläneet, päälinja ei ole muuttunut mihinkään. Voiko ilmastotieteeseen siis luottaa, vai onko kyseessä tutkijoiden ja poliitikkojen salaliitto ja maailman suurin huijaus, niin kuin jotkut ilmastoänkyrät väittävät? Aatelkaapa ite.

Mielenkiintoista änkyröiden kommenteissa on oikeastaan vain niiden logiikka - tai sen puute. Vastaava tuottaja Matti Virtanen, jonka työhuone Ylessä on jotakuinkin suoraan kerroksen verran alapuolellani, kehottaa olemaan kulkematta junalla, koska nythän hiilidioksidipäästöt pitäisi saada negatiivisiksi. No, eivät ne muutu negatiivisiksi millään liikkumistavalla. Lopetetaanko liikkuminen?

Virtasen touhujen seuraaminen on viihdyttävää. Hän tuntuu pyrkivän vaikuttamaan post-moderniin ironiaan vehoutuvalta älyköltä, joka ampuu joka suuntaan, mutta taitaa käytännössä vain varmistella omaa selustaansa. Ylen sisäisen intranetin kolumnissaan "'Ei pyöriä'" 9.2. hän esiintyy pyöräilyn ylimpänä ystävänä polttomoottoreita vastaan. Samassa jutussa hän kuitenkin laukoo, että ilmastoasioissa "uutisointi on mennyt naurettavaksi. Jutuissa ei ole mitään varauksia, vaan kaikki on ihmisen syytä". Sitten hän toteaa huolissaan, että "lienee selvää, ettei tällainen kohkaaminen saa aikaan suurta muutosta".

Virtanen kaipaa siis suurta muutosta. Mutta miksi? Taannoisessa MOT-ohjelmassaan "Al Goren epämiellyttävä puolitotuus" Virtanen totesi, että maapallo ei itse asiassa ole lämmennyt lainkaan. Minua hän katsoo tarpeelliseksi muistuttaa negatiivisten päästöjen toteutumisen vaikeudesta, mutta samalla vaivattomuudella hän säilyttää skeptisyytensä sen suhteen, että ilmastonmuutos (jota ei ole) ei ehkä olekaan - ainakaan kokonaan - ihmisen syytä. Ehkä hän kaipaakin pientä muutosta. Mutta miksi sitäkään?

Löydättekö te tästä jotain logiikkaa. Minä en. Pelkkää piruilua ja joutavaa pasteerausta.

Entäpä Timo Hämerannan viittaus The Guardianissa julkaistuun juttuun "'Apocalyptic climate predictions' mislead the public". Sen perusteella Hämeranta kehottaa, että lukijoiden harhaanjohtaminen katastrofipelottelulla pitäisi jo lopettaa. No, Met Officen meteorologi Vicky Pope, jonka mielipidekirjoitukseen samassa lehdessä artikkeli perustuu, kirjoittaa näin: "Sääoloissa ilmenevien luonnollisten vaihteluiden liioittelu ilmastonmuutoksena on yhtä lailla tieteen vääristymä kuin niiden vähättelevä käyttö pyrittäessä väittämään että ilmastonmuutos on loppunut tai ei ole tapahtumassa".

Hämeranta on itse suomalaisten ilmastoskeptikoiden puuhamiehiä. Miksi hän ei Popeen viitatessaan vähintään yhtä painokkaasti vaadi, että ilmastonmuutoksen kieltäminen on vihdoin lopetettava?

Popen tärkein huomio on itse asiassa se, että se huima nopeus, jolla pohjoinen pysyvä merijää on viime vuosina sulanut, voi osittain selittyä luonnollisilla vaihteluilla. Hän pelkää, että jos nykyinen sulamisvauhti laitetaan kokonaan ihmisen piikkiin ja sitten tahti taas hidastuukin, ilmastoskeptikot pääsevät väittämään, että nyt ilmastonmuutos on pysähtynyt. Ja näinhän skeptikot toimivatkin. Siksi monet ilmastotutkijat pyrkivät lausunnoissaan varovaisuuteen.

Pope itse arvioi, että Jäämeri olisi kesäisin jäätön joskus tämän vuosisadan lopulla. Toisaalta, aivan vakavasti otettavat tutkijat ovat uusimmissa tutkimuksissaan laskeneet näin voivan käydä jo noin vuonna 2020 tai jopa jo vuonna 2013. Pitäisikö nämä tulokset siis ohittaa kokonaan? Itse olen kirjassani "Ilmastonmuutos. Nyt" (s. 330) ajatusleikkinäni ennakoinut, että pysyvää jäätä ei Jäämerellä olisi enää noin vuoden 2045 jälkeen. Uusimpien tulosten valossa tämä kuulostaa kuitenkin liian varovaiselta. 2030-luku voisi olla parempi - ja silti ihan kohtuullisen konservatiivinen - arvaus. Mutta kuten sanotaan, nähtäväksi jää.

Joka tapauksessa, Pope päätyy kirjoituksessaan tähän: "ilmastonmuutoksen seuraukset ovat syvälliset ja käyvät vakaviksi, jos kasvihuonekaasujen päästöjä ei leikata tulevina vuosikymmeninä voimakkaasti ja ripeästi". Sanoma on selvä.

Tämähän on näköjään tuoreempi versio evoluutioteoria vastaan lumisteoria -keskustelusta. Jokaiseen tieteelliseen teoriaan voi loputtomasti vaatia "todisteita" ja ummistaa silmänsä kiistämällä ne aina kun sellaisia edes yritetään esittää. Hauskaa, evoluutiohommassa tutkijat eivät enää suostu tällaiseen keskusteluun mutta ilmastoasioissa yhä suostuvat ja sitä on kiva seurata.

Kyllä me änkyrät uskomme ilmastonmuutokseen. Se missä eroamme IPCC-uskovaisista on hiilidioksidin turmiollisuudessa. Kyseinen kaasu on kaikelle tuntemallemme elämälle välttämätön, eikä sen pitoisuuden tupalaantuminen aiheuta sitä kauheata lämpenemistä jolla ihmisiä pelotellaan.

Auringon aktiivisuuden hiipuminen näyttää olevan edessä ja jos se todella jatkuu aurinkotutkijoiden mukaan sykliin 24 ja siitä eteenpäin niin edessä saattaa olla vähintään Dalton-minimiä vastaavat kylmät ajat Euroopassa ja meillä Suomessa suuret katovuodet 1867-68 nälkäkuolemineen.

Todistustaakka on kuitenkin sillä joka haastaa tieteellisen kritiikin jo läpikäyneen valtateorian. Joten en oikein jaksa kuunnella sitä kun änkyrät perää peräämästä päästyään todisteita joita on esitetty moneen kertaan ja jotka ovat vahvempia kuin useilla täysin hyväksytyillä tieteellisillä teorioilla. Enkä tarkoita etteikö tiede voisi joskus erehtyä, mutta en silti olisin kritiikittä valmis hyväksymään ihan tuosta vain teorian että maapalllon nyt yht'äkkiä kylmenee ja katovuodet uhkaavat -ainakin tuo väitä vaatisi kyllä todella vahvat tieteelliset perusteet ja tieteellisen kritiikin läpikäymisen. Kyllä tuo toistaiseksi yhä muistuttaa kreationistien evoluutioteoriaan kohtistamaa kritiikkiä -valittavasti myös siltä osin että näkemyksestä ei tingitä vaikka minkälaisia todisteita kannettaisiin esiin. Ei ihme että tutkijat eivät jaksa enää käytä tuota keskustelua ilmastoasioissa käydä.

Sanottakoon nyt selvästi, että ilmasto on aina muuttunut ja tulee aina muuttumaan. Toiviainen voisi kaivaa jostain suoran sitaatin, jossa olen muka väittänyt jotakin muuta. Tietääkseni en ole kiistänyt myöskään sitä, että ihmisen toiminta vaikuttaa ilmastoon. Jokainen vähänkään ekologiaa lukenut tietää, että jopa sellaiset otukset kuin termiitit ja muurahaiset voivat saada aikaan muutoksia ekosysteemeissä, ilmasto mukaan lukien.

On aika outoa, että kun muistuttaa tästä ilmastonmuutosten ikuisuudesta, niin aletaan nimitellä ilmastonmuutoksen kieltäjäksi tai änkyräksi. Tähän änkyräjoukkoon kuulun mielelläni, ja pidättäydyn omasta puolestani nimittelemästä Yle-kollegaani, arkkitehti Toiviaista millään pejoratiivisella ilmaisulla.

Kyllä auringon aktiivisuuden hiipuminen on todellinen tapahtuma, tosin sen kesto on vielä täysin avoin.

Uusimmassa Tiede-lehdessä näkyy tästä jo ensi oireita. Myös NASA on korjannut ennusteitaan. Esitelmäni Kuvassa 15 olen Timo Niroman avustuksella hahmotellut tulevaa???

Vaikka Toiviainen ei osakaan asiallisesti keskustella, laitanpa taas uusimman viitteen, kirjoittajana tällä kertaa Thomas Crowley: HAS THE IPCC EXAGGERATED CO2 EMISSIONS SCENARIOS?

Joten toistan: lopetaanpa yleisön harhaanjohtaminen.

Myös on syytä lopettaa kehuskelu malliin "IPCC:n työhön on osallistunut tuhansia ilmastotutkijoita."

IPCC:n Schlesinger on myöntänyt, että IPCC:n työhön osallistujista vain noin 20 % on ilmastotutkijoita !!!

Toisin sanoen vain pieni samanmielisten klikki hallitsee IPCC:stä. Tämä ei sinänsä ole uutinen asioita tunteville, mutta tämän blogin lukijoidenkin hyvä tietää.

Sanonpa lopuksi ilmastosta oman kantani:

Kukan ei tiedä ilmaston muutoksista mitään tieteellisesti varmaa, mutta tieteellisten arvioiden mukaan maapallon ilmasto joko pysyy ennallaan tai viilenee hieman seuraavien 10-20 vuoden aikana.

Pitemmällä aikavälillä ilmasto lämpenee aivan omia aikojaan.

Ihmisen osuudesta kukaan ei tiedä tiukan tieteellisesti mitään varmaa.

Toimet 'taistella ilmastonmuutosta vastaan' eivät perustu tieteeseen, vaan varovaisuuteen.

Henilökohtaisesti minulla ei ole mitään varovaisuutta, säästäväisyyttä, energiatehokkuutta jne vastaan, mutta
niitä ei tarvitse eikä pidä perustella 'apokalyptisillä ilmastokatastrofeilla', joilla ei ole tieteellistä perustaa.

Asiat asioina, mutta 'ilmastoiskovaisten' kanssa sellainen ei ole onnistunut vilpittömistä yrityksistä huolimatta viimeisten 30 vuoden aikana. Tuskin seuraavienkaan...

Kiitokset Pasille hyvästä kirjoituksesta. Lähteet ovat vakuuttavia ja arviot tuoreita. Tilanne "ilmastopelissä" uskovaiset - änkyrät on jo ainakin 6-0. Ero kasvaa valitettavasti joka päivä uusien uutisten myötä.

Mutta sitten, voi ei! Pasin "paria ehdotusta" ei voine ottaa vakavasti, ne eivät ole missään suhteessa ongelman kanssa. Kun kerran maapallon kaikkia fossiilipäästöjä on karsittava noin 100% tai enemmän, Pasin ratkaisu on Helsingin ilmainen julkinen liikenne ja jokunen pilottihanke! Aikaa pikku päästövähennyksiin ei enää yksinkertaisesti ole, kuten Pasi itse totesi. Missä on logiikka?
Nyt tarvitaan täydellinen fossiilisten polttoaineiden kielto ja lain rikkojille kuolemanvakavat rangaistukset. Jos fossiilisia ei polteta niin päästöt putoavat tuon 100%, ei muuten. Vai onko joku änkyrä tai jopa Pasi eri mieltä?
Koska tämäkään ei enää riitä, on jokainen sotilas (asevelvollisuus pakolliseksi kaikille viideksi vuodeksi) määrättävä hiilen varastointityöhön, esim. Suomessa upottamaan tukkeja järviin ja soihin (siis ilman koneapua). Ja miljardirahoitus kaikille poppakonsteille Geosuunnittelu mukaanlukien, jos joku jotain parempaa kuitenkin keksisi.
Näillä keinoilla tasapaino tällä pallolla ehkä vielä palautuisi enemmän koneita kuin ihmisiä, eläimiä ja kasveja vähentämällä jotenkin järjestäytyneesti.

Annan ääneni (anonyymisti) heti poliitikolle, joka esittää minkä tahansa uskottavan ohjelman jolla lämpeneminen pysähtyy 1,5-2 asteen väliin. Silloin ihmisten määrä voitaisiin ehkä laskea miljardeissa myös ensi vuosisadalla ja vain pari miljardia menehtyisi.
Jos mitään ei tehdä nyt heti niin sitten pitäisi ottaa vielä järeämmät keinot käyttöön myöhemmin, mutta onko niitä sitten enää yhtään jäljellä kun jankutus uskovaiset - ähkyrät on 546-3?

Onko anonyyminä laadittu kirjoitus ymmärrettävä herjana vai Pasin kirjoitusten sokaiseman uskontunnustuksena? Myönnän, että lobbaus on etenkin median toimesta ollut massiivista. Valitettavsti vain ilmastopaneelin (IPCC) perustelut rakentuvat puutteellisten ilmastomallien varaan.

Väite, että ilmastonmuutosta (= maapallon ilmaston katastrofaalista lämpenemistä) koskeva tiede olisi selvitetty, ei kestä tieteellistä tarkastelua. Uusin tiede tuo jatkuvasti vakuuttavia havaintoja hiilidioksidin vähäisestä merkityksestä ja vastaavasti auringon aktiivisuuden ratkaisevasta osuudesta.

Mikäli auringon aktiivisuuden hiipuminen jatkuu nykyisen kaltaisena on suuri todennäköisyys, että olemme menossa kohti pienen jääkauden tapaisia kylmempiä aikoja. Esim. hakusana - solarcycle24 - vie asiaa käsittelevälle sivustolle.

Tottakai IPCC:nkin ennusteet rakentuvat puutteellisten ilmastomallien varaan. Näin on myös omien näkemystesi auringonpilkkujen kanssa. Kivahan se olisi, jos olisit oikeassa. IPCC:n, ja muiden "uskovaisten" leiri on vain vakuuttavampi. Lisänä siihen se että olen henkilökohtaisesti kokenut ilmaston lämpenemisen pienen elinikäni ajan.

Kuoleeko kaikki varmasti, ja jos ei niin millä todennäköisyydellä pelastumme (ks. edes otsikot yllä). Jos "pelastumisen" raja on kaksi astetta (mm. EU:n raja) ja siinä pysymisen todennäköisyys pari prosenttia, niin ylityksen ja mittavien ilmastokatastrofien sarjan alkamisen todennäköisyys on niin varmaa kuin mikään tieteessä tai tulevaisuuden ennustamisessa yleensä voi olla.
Tai sitten aurinko hiipuu tai vihreät miehet pelastavat meidät tms., vaan mikä on näiden todennäköisyys? Alan lukea näitäkin juttuja kunhan vaan mediat yms. alkavat niitä mainostamaan.
Media, tiedeyhteisöt, satelliitit, jäätiköt ja lämpömittarit ovat tosiaan lobanneet massiivisesti ilmaston lämpenemiseen uskovaisten leirin puolesta.
Pasin kirjoituksessa olevat prosenttiluvut ole jo sellaisia että vedonlyönnissä (voiko tästä lyödä vetoa?) auringon hiipumista ja kylmempiä aikoja veikkaava saisi todella hyvät kertoimet.
Jos uskovaiset olisivat pahasti väärässä ja "oikeasti" on vain 17% (ei 97%) mahdollisuus 2 asteen ylitykseen, niin oltaisiin venäläisen ruletin kertoimissa, eikä sekään mikään mukava peli ole. Kannattaisi lähteä viskelemään niitä tukkeja järveen ja vähän äkkiä jos matikasta jotain ymmärtää!

Hyvä Tuntematon (heistä viimeisin),

valittelet sitä, että pari ehdotustani eivät ole suhteessa ongelman kanssa. No, eivät ne tietenkään ole mikään kokonaisratkaisu. Yritin kuitenkin tuoda keskusteluun jotain uutta ja ihan oikeasti helposti toteutettavaa. Tärkeintähän nyt olisi edes lähteä liikkeelle.

Olen samaa mieltä, että nyt tarvittaisiin sotailaan verrattavissa oleva kriisiohjelma, mutta kuinka todennäköistä minkään likimainkaan tällaisen lanseeraaminen on. Ei kovin.

Raadollinen todellisuus on, että isompien ratkaisujen suhteen nyt odotellaan joulukuun Kööpenhaminan ilmastokokousta. Jos siellä päästään laajaan sopimukseen nopeista päästövähennyksistä, silloin ehkä alkaa tapahtua. Jos taas ei, sitten näyttää ehdottoman synkältä.

Tärkein yksittäinen toimenpide olisi mielestäni kyllä se, että kasvihuonepäästöille asetettaisiin niin korkea hinta että se todella tuntuu. Olen vakuuttunut, että se toisi nopean muutoksen. Tarvittava teknologiahan on jo odottamassa. Ei sekään varmasti yksin riitä, mutta se olisi se ratkaisevin askel.

PS. Vastaus änkyröille seuraa perässä...

Hehheh, annetaan tarkkoja prosentteja, millä pysytään alle kahden asteen nousussa:D. Kuitenkin ilmatieteenlaitos on täysin ymmällään miksi ilmasto näyttää viilenevän. Tosin sanoen heillä ei ole harmainta aavistusta viilenemisen syystä. Samat sankarit osaavat kuitenkin tarkkoja 5 prosentin arvioita;D. Plokaajalla tulee olemaan täysi työ pitääkseen kansaa uskossa. Vähän aikaa se saattaa onnistua, mutta sitten koittaa aika, jolloin kupla puhkeaa. Ja internet muistaa mitä kukanenkin on sanonut.

Voin vakuuttaa, että Ilmatieteen laitoksella tiedetään oikein hyvin, mitä ilmastolle kuuluu ja mitkä tekijät sen nykytilaan vaikuttavat. Ja internet tosiaan muistaa, mutta tuntemattomiksi jäävät kynäilijät jäävät lopulta myös ilman ansaitsemaansa kunniaa.
